How does MrStarsky generate my star map?
Your star map will be generated by using the chosen location, time and date. MrStarsky is basing the unique starry sky on the scientific knowledge of astronomy. We use different sets of data, that allow us to see the positions of the stars very accurately.
Six months later, the stars are almost the same as the stars during the day, how is that possible?
Very sometimes it happens that parents order two different posters and they see that the stars are almost the same with each other. Only one poster is in the night and the other six months later in the daytime. So this is due to the movements of the earth:
As the Earth rotates around itself, we see the sky move as if we were going for a ride: the whole sky seems to spend the hours revolving around a point near Polaris, the North Star (center of the map). Each night the stars in the sky return to the same place 4 minutes earlier, because the Earth’s movement in its orbit around the sun gives us a slightly different background of stars each night. These 4 minutes represent the difference between the length of a day (24 hours).
